At some point, an amplifier stops being the thing limiting what your speakers can do — the M550 is built to get you there. It's rated at 550 watts into 8 ohms and simply doubles that as impedance drops, all the way to 2,200 watts into 2 ohms, so even famously power-hungry speakers get driven with room to spare.
That power comes from the same Super Rail topology used across D'Agostino's top amplifiers — boosting voltage ahead of the output stage so the signal never runs out of headroom during a big dynamic swing. New output transistors handle six times the power of earlier designs, and a higher operating bias extends the amp's Class A range to 70 watts, which is the range most responsible for that rich, textured midrange audiophiles chase. Massive single-billet aluminum heatsinks, milled from the same stock used in the flagship Relentless amps, keep it all running cool at full tilt.
