For ADAMANTE the challenge was to obtain in the most reduced form factor, performances closest to ENIGMA ones. We think we have succeeded.

Even if volumes are very closed, ADAMANTE is slightly smaller than Onira and should make integration in most modern rooms easier. Obviously, this new model us the same special cabinet shape as our other models: two curved sides of different length and no symmetrical faces. This choice is dictated by cosmetic and technical issues: The heterogeneous nature of the different panels (size, radius, angle, length), imply a non –uniform resonance distribution and a reduced sound radiation for the most excited ones.

Enclosure panels consist of multiple thin layers of high density MDF, glued together, and pressure molded to reach final thickness of 28 to 44mm. This sandwich structure allows to break and attenuate vibration waves inside the material. The aim is to drastically improve cabinet damping. The laminar structure is formed around a complex framework of eight heavy bracing panels.

To optimize the dispersal of structure-borne noise, the ADAMANTE enclosure stands on its central cone positioned on the axis of the center of gravity. The same device is used on all our models starting with the Armonia. The four other spikes are for stability only.

Mechanical inertia is mandatory for every high end speakers. For this purpose we use a steel coupling plate of 10mm to fasten front and back metal stands.

ADAMANTE acoustic load principle is similar as the one used on ONIRA and ENIGMA. It’s an hybrid load, mixing an acoustic line and a bass-reflex. Thanks to its wide diameter, the port tube placed beneath the loudspeaker, reduces air flow noise, improves room interaction and lowers non-linearity.

Internal damping combines original solutions and a mixture of four different materials to cancel any standing waves.

The ADAMANTE uses two 18 cm (6.5’’) bass/mid range drivers. These two drivers are similar to those used on Onira, but with deep modifications. Improvement on the magnet assembly with reduced distortions. Improvement in mechanical damping, and electro-magnetic field interferences. The cone material is still “Isotactic Matrix”. A new type of composite material based on woven polypropylene. This cone material exhibits stiffness, lightness and good damping properties.

The implementation of an original loading architecture brings the benefit of a real synchronized operation of the two mid-woofers. This is mostly not the case with common design using similar drivers in a single load.

The high frequency drive unit is a professional ribbon tweeter. It uses an aluminum/ polymer sandwich diaphragm for improved linearity. The ribbon is mechanically held tight on both sides to avoid oscillations on some specific signals. The drive unit effective piston area is twice as the Onira one’s, and four times the area of ordinary dome tweeters, for a moving mass of only 88mg.

This wide emissive surface combined with Christian Yvon crossover technology, allow an unusual low cutting frequency. This way we can spread the well-known sound qualities of ribbon tweeter over a wider frequency range.

The “DRIM” crossover technology used in Apertura products allows a minimum intermodulation and respect of time alignment. This filter technology has an ellipse on one of its branches, with three different slopes: 6dB, 12dB and 24dB per octave. Low-pass and High-pass circuits are independent. Hand wiring on high power Pcb (210µm copper thickness), with no less than thirty seven high end components per speaker.

Musically speaking, we recognize Onira qualities with significant improvements. Heavier foundation, more precision and refinement. Combined with the most musical electronics, Adamante will offer a new listening delight experience to music lovers.
