In 1974, Dave Wilson, along with his wife Sheryl Lee Wilson, embarked on a quest for sonic perfection, founding Wilson Audio Specialties in their humble garage. Recognizing the need for a portable studio monitor with the precision of his original WAMM (Wilson Audio Modular Monitor), Dave, a recording engineer, began crafting what would become the WATT (Wilson Audio Tiny Tot). This compact yet powerful speaker quickly garnered attention at audio shows, outpacing the demand.
Over the past five decades, Wilson Audio has transformed from a small garage operation to a 46,000 sq/ft state-of-the-art facility. Our commitment to "Authentic Excellence" drives our team of artisans to continually refine and enhance every product, building on the legacy of our founders.

We are proud to reintroduce the WATT/Puppy, an evolution of one of the most iconic loudspeakers. Inspired by the original design, the new WATT/Puppy integrates cutting-edge technologies and innovations refined over 50 years, realizing the vision Dave Wilson might have had with today’s resources. This masterpiece is handcrafted by over 60 skilled artisans, each contributing to its perfection.
**Advanced Material Science**
From 1986 to 2011, the WATT/Puppy underwent eight iterations, each utilizing the best materials available. The latest WATT/Puppy features X-Material for structural integrity, S-Material for midrange coupling, and V-Material for vibration damping. This combination results in an inert enclosure that enhances sound reproduction.
**Meticulous Design**
The new WATT/Puppy retains its iconic shape, updated with modern tools and craftsmanship. The rear handle, originally designed for portability, has been refined for a secure grip. An adjustable spike ensures precise time-domain alignment, and the Wilson Audio Multi-connector binding post accommodates various speaker cable connections. The WATT module sits on vibration-reducing spike track hardware, and the Puppy’s resistor panel offers easy maintenance with quick-release thumbscrews.
A 50th Anniversary medallion commemorates our legacy of excellence, available in matching hardware finishes, including a unique Red medallion for red variations.
**Pioneering Driver Technology**
Wilson Audio’s driver technology has evolved significantly. The 1” Convergent Synergy Carbon (CSC) Tweeter, originally developed for the Alexx V, delivers superior harmonic detail and high-frequency extension. The 7” AlNiCo QuadraMag midrange driver, used in our top models, offers rich, exquisite sound. The WATT/Puppy’s twin 8” woofers, identical to those in the Sasha V, provide an agile, precise low-frequency response.
